Aerol Acquisition Update

Aerol Acquisition Update: Progress and Next Steps

Dear Aerol Customers,

I wanted to update you quickly on the progress following Caster Concepts /Aerol LLC’s acquisition of Aerol Company.
As you will recall, the acquisition closed on November 13, 2020. Since that time, the following has occurred.

  • All inventory moved to Albion, Michigan, by November 15, 2020.
  •  All WIP orders will be transferred to Albion and completed by November 15, 2020.
  • All foundry tooling moved to Quality Non-Ferrous Foundry in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
  • All engineering data, drawings, and technical documentation moved to Albion, Michigan.
  • Beginning on or about November 23, drawings and BOMs were being developed, and jobs were released for manufacturing.
  • The first order of the Aerol product line built in Albion shipped on December 15, 2020.

In summary, we have moved all elements of the business from Rancho Dominguez, California, to Albion, Michigan, and are now operating with some capacity limitations. At this point, the limitation is the “re-engineering” of the Aerol product. We will 3D model each component in SolidWorks and build all reconstructed Bills of Materials (BOMs) in our ERP system before releasing them to manufacturing.

While we wish there were a way to shortcut this process, it is impossible to follow our ISO quality procedures if we cut corners or take shortcuts that may eventually undermine the product’s quality. That would not only be counterproductive, but it would also eventually impact our valued customers.

Starting on or around January 26, we will receive our first shipment of castings from our supplier, Quality Non-Ferrous Foundry. These orders based on in-house requirements will enable us to match BOMs with available inventory and process open orders through manufacturing and assembly.

I am very proud of the team’s effort and the progress made in a relatively short period. All this work means nothing until we receive your orders, commit to your shipping date, and deliver high-quality casters as promised. I take this commitment to On-Time Delivery of all our manufacturing products seriously and expect our team members will not disappoint our customers.

Thanks for your support. If you have any issues, don’t hesitate to contact your Aerol representative, Bill Schoonover or Keith DuFault, or, as a last resort, Director of Sales, Doug Backinger.

Regards,

William H. Dobbins
President
